Biographical Information

Shotaro Ide played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 13 years.

Ide won triple crown for Japan in the 2001 Asia Junior Championship. The Daiei Hawks selected him in the 8th round of the 2001 NPB draft, and he spent his first two seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He went 8-for-33 in 2004, and he had a .205/.271/.386 batting line in 2005. Ide struggled again in 2006 as he hit .129/.182/.161 in 23 games, and he got some chances in 2007 because Naoyuki Ohmura was injured. He played 61 games with 2 homers and a .235/.287/.333 batting line that season, and he hit .324/.347/.412 in 68 at-bats in 2008. However, Ide went 1-for-18 in 2009, and he was traded to the Yokohama BayStars for Teruaki Yoshikawa.

The Miyazaki native played 49 games with a .202/.252/.308 batting line in 2010, and he had a 5-for-23 record in 2011 and he went 6-for-28 in 2012. Ide hit .310/.357/.356 in 32 games in 2013, then his batting line fell to .205/.234/.370 in 2014. He played 40 games with a career-high 4 homers and a .255/.275/.449 batting line in 2015, but he went 7-for-27 in 2016 then he retired.

Overall, Ide hit .236/.274/.352 with 181 hits and 15 homers in 13 seasons in NPB.
