Biographical Information[edit]
Shizuo Yamamoto played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Yamamoto signed with the Chunichi Dragons in 1948, and he hit .255/.307/.353 with 24 doubles in his first season. He then had a .225/.278/.289 batting line in 130 games in 1949, and he went to the Kintetsu Pearls when the JPBL split into two leagues. Yamamoto crushed 4 homers with a .230/.316/.302 batting line in 1950, and he batted .217/.289/.283 in 1951. He slumped to .179/.230/.223 in 1952, then he bounced back with a .251/.336/.320 batting line in 1953. Yamamoto recorded a .230/.333/.294 batting line in 1954, and he hit .241/.383/.300 in 1955. However, he struggled in 1956 as he went 8-for-55, and he announced his retirement in 1957 after having a 0-for-10 record. He was a minor league coach for Kintetsu from 1958 to 1959.
Overall, Yamamoto hit .228/.313/.296 with 669 hits and 9 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
