Biographical Information[edit]

Shinichi Ohnuki has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Ohnuki was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 3rd round of the 2018 NPB draft; the scout was Ryuichi Kawahara. He went 6-5 with a 5.00 ERA in 2019, and he also went 4-1 with a 3.62 ERA for the Canberra Cavalry in 2019-2020 ABL. Ohnuki improved to 10-6 with a 2.53 ERA in 2020, and he ranked 5th in wins in the Central League (tied with Masato Morishita and Yasuhiro Ogawa). Ohunki slumped to 6-7 with a 4.34 ERA in 2021, then he bounced back soon in 2022 and he went 11-8 with a 2.77 ERA. He was 3rd in wins (tied with Shota Imanaga) and 9th in strikeouts (between Aren Kuri and Keiji Takahashi).

The Yokohama native went 5-4 with a 2.95 ERA in 2023, and he was 6-7 with a 2.85 ERA in 2024. He completed 6 2/3 innings with only a run allowed to outduel Tomoyuki Sugano in the 2024 CLCS final stage Game 2, and the BayStars beat the Yomiuri Giants in 6 games. In the 2024 Nippon Series, Ohnuki surrendered 5 runs in 2 1/3 innings in Game 2, and Liván Moinelo got the win over him. The BayStars still beat the Softbank Hawks in 6 games.
