Biographical Information[edit]
Shigeo Ueno played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.
Ueno signed with the Mainichi Orions in 1950, and he went 7-6 with a 3.89 ERA in his first season. He improved to 6-5 with a 2.83 ERA in 1951, and he was 14-6 with a 3.20 ERA in 1952. He was 7th in wins in the Pacific League, between Giichi Hayashi and Tokuji Kawasaki. Ueno pitched 3 games with a 4.50 ERA in 1953 before he was sent to the Tokyu Flyers, and he recorded a 3.06 ERA in 30 appearances. He then went 2-6 with a 4.99 ERA in 1954, and he announced his retirement after that season.
Overall, Ueno was 34-30 with a 3.51 ERA, struck out 176 and pitched 577 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
