Biographical Information

Shiang-Sheng Hsu has played for the Taiwanese national team and in the Nippon Pro Baseball.

Hsu's father is Japanese, so he was eligible for the NPB draft. The Yakult Swallows picked him in the first round of the development phase in the 2023 NPB draft, and he had a 9.00 ERA in 2 games in the NPB Farm Leagues. He then made it onto Taiwan's roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, and he pitched a shutout inning against Spain with a strikeout against Andrés Angulo. Hsu then started against Nicaragua, but he allowed a RBI double to Brandon Leytón and a single to Chase Dawson in 2 innings, and he got the loss to Dilmer Mejía. Taiwan won a spot in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
