Seiya Watanabe has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Watanabe set the Kansai6 Baseball League record for crushing 5 homers in a season, and he won 5 Best Nines in the league.[1] He also represented Japan in the 2024 Haarlemse Honkbalweek, hitting .250/.323/.357 but saving his best for the title game, when he had 3 hits and 3 RBI to beat Team USA. He tied for the event lead in doubles (3) and his six RBI tied Ayuto Matsushita, Jesus Ustariz and Samuele Gamberini for 3rd. [2] The Seibu Lions selected him in the 2nd round of the 2024 NPB draft, the scout was Mitsutaka Goto. Watanabe debuted against the Nippon Ham Fighters on the opening day of the 2025 season, and he got his first hit against Shoma Kanemura. Watanabe ended up hitting .259/.299/.395 with 12 homers in his rookie year, and he tied Keita Nakagawa, Shun Mizutani, Kotaro Kiyomiya and Isami Nomura for 9th in homers in the Pacific League.
