Seisuke Toyoda played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.
Toyoda hit .310 with 2 best nine awards and a batting title in his college career, and he helped his school won the 1978 All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series. He signed with the Chunichi Dragons in 1978, and he stayed in the minors in his first season. Toyoda then hit .252/.309/.335 in 1980, and he recorded a .292/.346/.403 batting line in 1981. However, he slumped to .136/.200/.159 in 1982 and Ken Hirano took his starting spot in the outfield. Toyoda was 2-for-6 in the 1982 Nippon Series, and the Seibu Lions beat the Dragons in 6 games.
The Tokyo native struggled again in 1983 as he was 1-for-20, and he recorded a .236/.267/.403 batting line in 1984. His batting line fell to .111/.289/.111 in 1985, and he was 9-for-45 in 1986. Toyoda bounced back with a .315/.360/.403 batting line in 1987, but he played 88 games with a .190/.274/.262 batting line in 1988 and he announced his retirement. He then coached the Dragons from 1989 to 1997, and he also scouted for them.
Overall, Toyoda hit .245/.306/.332 with 251 hits and 13 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
