Seiryu Kotajima has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Kotajima was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 6th round of the 2023 NPB draft; the scout was Daisuke Okazaki. [1] He notched 24 holds with a solid 0.79 ERA in 50 games in 2024, and he tied Ryoji Kuribayashi and Satoshi Miyamori's NPB record as he pitched 22 consecutive games without allowing a run starting from his debut. Kotajima was 4th in holds (tied with Sora Suzuki) and 7th in appearances in the Pacific League (tied with Nobuyoshi Yamada, Kosei Yoshida, Yuki Matsumoto and Kazuki Sugiyama). He got 16 votes in the PL Rookie of the Year voting, and he was 2nd behind winner Natsuki Takeuchi's 242 votes.[2]
