Seattle Steelheads

From BR Bullpen

The Seattle Steelheads were members of the short-lived West Coast Negro Baseball League in 1946, representing Seattle, WA.

They were actually the barnstorming Harlem Globetrotters, but had been renamed to create a fan base in Seattle.

While their existence may have been short, they were historically important as the top Negro League team to ever play in the Pacific Northwest, an area that the Negro Leagues had not really turned to during their heyday when they were major leagues. As a result, the Seattle Mariners decided to honor the Negro Leagues and their players by making the Steelheads jersey their alternate home uniform, worn for every Sunday game at T-Mobile Park during the 2026 season. They were thus the first major league team to make a Negro Leagues jersey a part of their standard uniform (other teams had worn such jerseys on one-off occasions before, but never as part of their regular uniform rotation).
