Biographical Information

There have been over 50 major leaguers named Moore, but only one named Scrappy Moore. However, there was also a minor league outfielder and manager known as Andy "Scrappy" Moore.

The major leaguer was in college from 1911-1917, coming to the majors in June of 1917 with the St. Louis Browns and staying for four games. He was a local boy, born in St. Louis, MO. After being in the military in 1918, he came back to pro ball to play six seasons in the minors, three of which were for the Little Rock Travelers. Many years later, he died in Little Rock, AR.

Moore studied law at Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt University before signing on to pro baseball. He served in the Navy in 1918.

The only other major league player remembered with the first name "Scrappy" has been Scrappy Carroll, but there were others in the minor leagues, as noted, and the name was also a common nickname.
