Biographical Information[edit]
Scott Forbes has been a college coach.
Forbes began his collegiate playing career at Middle Georgia College in 1994 before finishing his career at North Carolina Wesleyan College from 1995-1997. At NC Wesleyan he would hit .321 as a catcher while also winning the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference twice. He was also on the NC Wesleyan team that went to the 1997 Division III College World Series. Forbes also holds the Division-III record with most doubles in a season with 27.
In 1998 he would begin his coaching career at NC Wesleyan under his mentor Mike Fox. He would then join the University of North Carolina as an assistant coach from 1999-2002. He was also the head coach for the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League in 1999 & 2000 where he was the leagues Coach of the Year in 1999. From 2003-2005 Forbes was an assistant coach at Winthrop University. In 2006, he was named pitching coach at UNC, a position he held for 11 years (2006-2016). He was named National Pitching Coach of the Year in 2008. In 2017 he took over the role of hitting coach for the Tar Heels. In 2018 he was named as one of the nation's best assistant coaches by Baseball America.
Forbes would start leading the Tar Heels in August of 2020. In his first 6 years as the head coach, UNC has made the NCAA tournament every year including trips to the 2024 College World Series and 2026 College World Series.
