Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Satoshi Kuroda played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Kuroda was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 4th round of the 1992 NPB draft, and he only got 12 at-bats combined for the big club in his first six seasons. He was 6-for-34 in 1999, and he played 58 games with a .192/.245/.242 batting line in 2000; he had a career-high 116 plate appearances. Kuroda went 2-for-17 in 2001, and the Lions traded him to the Yomiuri Giants for Naoki Uchizono. He had a 3-for-12 record in 2002, and he was 4-for-15 in 2003. Kuroda hit .170/.179/.321 in 47 games in 2004, and he struggled again in 2005 as his batting line was .209/.227/.233 in 42 games. He then went 2-for-13 in 2006, and he was traded back to the Lions for nothing. Kuroda didn't reach the big club in 2007, and he announced his retirement. He later coached Seibu's minors team from 2010 to 2018, and he was their top team fielding coach from 2019 to 2023.
Overall, Kuroda hit .195/.224/.282 with 58 hits in 10 seasons in NPB.
