Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Satoru Nakano played for Japan in the 1985 Asian Championship. He was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 2nd round of the 1986 NPB draft, and he only got 10 at-bats combined in his first two seasons. He played 108 games with a .237/.291/.372 batting line in 1988, and he led the Central League with 9 hit-by-pitches. Nakano then had perhaps his best season in 1989, and he hit .268/.342/.474 with 11 home runs, 41 RBI and 9 stolen bases in 287 at-bats over 124 games. He led the league in hit-by-pitches again with 17. Nakano recorded a .261/.358/.352 batting line in 1990, then he slumped to .210/.300/.371 in 1991. He batted .192/.333/.327 in 72 games in 1992, and he announced his retirement in 1993.

Overall, Nakano batted .241/.320/.392 with 28 home runs, 102 RBI and 138 runs scored in 529 games over 8 seasons.
