Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Sal Recca played in the New York Yankees organization for several years, and the Takahashi Unions signed him in 1954. He crushed 23 homers with a .200/.273/.415 batting line in his first season, and he led the Pacific League with 117 strikeouts. He also ranked 4th in homers (between Seiji Sekiguchi and Hiroshi Oshita) and 10th in RBI (between Kazuo Horii and Isami Okamoto). Recca was the only player in Takahashi's history to collect double-digit homers. He slumped to .187/.276/.337 in 1955, and his professional career ended.
