Biographical Information[edit]
Sakio Shibata signed with the Nishitetsu club in 1943, and he didn't play any games in his first season. He went to the Yomiuri Giants, and he was 0-for-2 in 1944. Shibata enlisted into the military, and his professional career ended. He then became a scout for the Chunichi Dragons, signing Shinichi Eto, Eiji Bando and Hiroshi Gondo. In 1966, he signed Satoshi Takai but it was revealed that Takai indeed hadn't dropped out from college and was thus ineligible to be signed. Thus, he was suspended for a year.
