Biographical Information

Sakae Okawara signed with the Chunichi Dragons in 1979, and he was 4-for-18 in his first season. He went 8-for-34 in 32 games in 1980, then he had a 10-for-28 record in 32 games in 1981. Okawara only played one game in the next two seasons, and he hit .208/.240/.271 in 40 games in 1984. He had a .246/.300/.354 batting line in a career-high 70 plate appearances over 38 games in 1985 (backing up Tomoyoshi Oishi and Takayoshi Nakao at catcher), and he announced his retirement.
