Biographical Information[edit]
Sachio Himoto played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.
Himoto signed with the Hiroshima Carp in 1954, but he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. He crushed 15 homers with a .241/.292/.429 batting line in 1956, and he was 3rd in homers in the Central League (between Toshio Miyamoto and Shigeru Fujio). Himoto had a .236/.304/.326 batting line in 1957, but he fractured his finger because of an inside pitch, so he only played 72 games with a .209/.271/.357 batting line in 1958. Himoto struggled again as his batting line was .157/.225/.186 in 1959, and the Carp released him after he went 2-for-25 in 1960. He signed with the Toei Flyers, and he went 6-for-41 in 1961. Himoto recorded a .245/.286/.340 batting line in 1962, and he went 0-for-2 in the 1962 Nippon Series; the Flyers beat the Hanshin Tigers in 7 games. He played 115 games with a .211/.250/.278 batting line in 1963, but he went 1-for-18 in 1964 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Himoto hit .217/.277/.331 with 265 hits and 24 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
