Biographical Information[edit]
Ryunosuke Matsumoto had pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Matsumoto was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 3rd round of the 2020 NPB draft, and he allowed 23 runs in 7 innings in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2021. On September 22 against the Chiba Lotte Marines, Matsumoto allowed 13 runs including 8 walks in the first inning, and the Marines scored 17 in the first inning. That was the Japan professional baseball record for most runs allowed in the first inning. Matsumoto missed the entire 2022 season after he underwent a left shoulder surgery, and he had a 1.29 ERA in 9 games in the minors in 2023. He was 3-1 with a 3.02 ERA in 2024, and he made his NPB debut on October 5. Matsumoto tore his ACL and missed the entire 2025 season.
