Biographical Information

Ryuhei Obata has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Obata was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 2nd round of the 2018 NPB draft; the scout was Shuta Tanaka. He stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2019, and he hit .220/.260/.256 in 54 games in 2020. Obata then went 6-for-23 in 2021, and he played 49 games with a .188/.208/.246 batting line in 2022. He then recorded a.282/.349/.321 batting line in 2023, and he hit .241/.313/.310 in 2024. When Seiya Kinami struggled in 2025, Obata shared the starting shortstop spot with him, and he had a .223/.272/.309 batting line in 89 games. He went 1-for-13 in the 2025 Nippon Series, and the Tigers lost to the Softbank Hawks in 5 games.
