Biographical Information[edit]

Ryota Yachi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.

Yachi was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 6th round of the 2012 NPB draft, and he went 4-for-21 in 2013. He played 43 games with a .191/.227/.270 batting line in 2014, but he only got 6 at-bats in 2015. Yachi then hit .300/.372/.414 in 2016 before a left hand fracture ended his season, but he slumped to .198/.217/.220 in 2017. He had a 10-for-45 record in 2018, and the Swallows traded him with Ryo Akiyoshi to the Nippon Ham Fighters for Kengo Ohta and Hirotoshi Takanashi. Yachi was 2-for-25 in 2019, and he went 5-for-16 in 50 games in 2020. He played a career-high 106 games in 2021, but he only hit .179/.233/.179 in 39 at-bats as he was used as a defensive sub primarily, with action at all four infield spots. Yachi recorded a .268/.309/.346 batting line in 2022, but his batting line fell to .197/.274/.197 in 2023 and he announced his retirement. He became the fielding coach for the Fighters in 2024.

Overall, Yachi hit .227/.276/.279 with 143 hits and 3 homers in 11 seasons in NPB.
