Biographical Information[edit]
Ryoji Tani played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Tani signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1984, and he had a 3.09 ERA in 28 games that season. He pitched a shutout inning in the 1984 Nippon Series Game 3, and the Braves lost to the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in 7 games. Tani notched 5 saves with a 6.84 ERA in 25 games in 1985, and he was 7-1 with a 2.73 ERA in 1986. However, Tani's ERA rose to 6.58 in 19 games in 1987, and he only pitched 10 more games for the big club before he announced his retirement in 1993. He became the coach of Kanto Gakuen University in 2012.
Overall, Tani was 7-3 with a 4.20 ERA, struck out 137 and pitched 246 1/3 innings in 6 seasons in NPB.
