Biographical Information[edit]

Ryohei Kawamoto played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Kawamoto was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 4th round of the 2004 NPB draft, and he spent his first two seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He played 51 games with a .208/.288/.403 batting line as the backup catcher behind Masakazu Fukukawa in 2007, and he hit .253/.324/.383 in 2008. Kawamoto slumped to .197/.254/.348 in 2009, and he struggled again in 2010 as his batting line was .190/.250/.304. He recorded a 173/.244/.293 batting line in 2011, and he was traded to the Chiba Lotte Marines for Masahiko Tanaka after he went 11-for-43 in 2012. Kawamoto hit .187/.237/.209 in 2013, and he had a 6-for-38 record in 2014. He stayed in the minors in 2015, and the Marines released him. He signed with the Rakuten Golden Eagles, but he was 3-for-19 in 2016 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Kawamoto hit .207/.272/.337 with 147 hits and 19 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
