Biographical Information[edit]

Ryo Yoshida played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years

Yoshida was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 5th round of the 2015 NPB draft, and he spent his first four seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only pitched 5 games combined for the big club. Yoshida notched 7 holds with a 2.17 ERA in 35 appearances in 2020, then he had a 2.12 ERA in 18 games in 2021. He pitched a shutout inning in the 2021 Nippon Series Game 1, and he completed 1/3 of a shutout inning in Game 2. However, Yoshida allowed a game-winning 2-run home run to Domingo Santana in Game 3, and Taichi Ishiyama got the win over him. He notched a hold with 1/3 of a shutout inning in Game 5, but Shingo Kawabata hit a RBI single against him in the 12th inning of Game 6 and he got the loss again. Yoshida's ERA rose to 8.10 in 6 games in 2022, then he pitched 19 games with a 3.24 ERA in 2023. The Buffaloes then released him, and he signed with the Chiba Lotte Marines. However, Yoshida recorded a 6.17 ERA in 9 games in 2024, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yoshida was 4-5 with 17 holds and a 4.04 ERA, struck out 78 and pitched 84 2/3 innings in 7 seasons in the NPB.
