Biographical Information

Infielder Ryan Ruiz played in the Oakland Athletics system in 2004 and 2005. He was taken by the club in the 19th round of the 2004 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Micah Owings and also in the same round as future star David Price. He was signed by scout Rick Magnante.

With the Vancouver Canadians in 2004, he hit .243/.357/.347 with 2 home runs and 34 RBI in 56 games. With the Kane County Cougars in 2005, he hit .247/.371/.428 with 11 home runs and 45 RBI in 93 games. Overall, he hit .245/.365/.394 with 13 home runs and 79 RBI in 149 games.
