Biographical Information[edit]

Roger Schmuck played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues.

Schmuck was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 20th round of the 1969 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign. He represented the USA in the 1970 Amateur World Series. The Kansas City Royals picked him in the first round of the 1971 Amateur Draft, and he hit .235/.361/.285 in 70 games for the Elmira Royals in 1971. He recorded a .199/.317/.240 batting line for the San Jose Bees in 1972, and he struggled again with the Waterloo Royals as his batting line was .205/.322/.267 in 53 games. Schmuck split between Waterloo and Decatur Commodores in 1973, and he played 60 games combined with 10 homers. He also pitched 21 innings with a 6.00 ERA for the Royals, and that was his last season as a professional player. He later coached Mesa Community College from 1983 to 1994.
