Biographical Information[edit]

Rintaro Hirama played for the Kochi Fighting Dogs from 2020 to 2022. He had a 0.79 ERA and a Shikoku Island League plus-leading 18 saves as a rookie then improved to a 0.43 ERA in 2021, again leading in saves (14) and posting a .86 WHIP. Moving to the rotation, he was 9-4 with a 1.59 ERA to lead in wins and ERA. He won the MVP in 2022 despite spending about a month in Mexico. He was 1-3 with a 5.51 ERA for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in 2022, and he also allowed 6 runs in 2 2/3 innings for the Guerreros de Oaxaca in his lone appearance. He left the Fighting Dogs in 2023, and he signed with the Kufu HAYATE Ventures Shizuoka in 2024. Hirama was 2-7 with a 3.82 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he had a 4.82 ERA in 3 games for the Tigres de Aragua in the winter. He was on the Japan Breeze in the 2025 Caribbean Series, and he allowed 2 runs in 4 innings, losing to the Charros de Jalisco's Luis Iván Rodríguez.
