Biographical Information[edit]

Rikizo Kogure played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years. His brother Eiji Kogure also played in NPB.

He initially signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1942, and he hit .143/.235/.209 in 49 games in his first season. He played 64 games with a .213/.335/.302 batting line in 1943, and he tied Masato Monzen and Hideo Suzuki for 5th in triples in the Japanese Professional Baseball League with 5. Kogure had a 8-for-39 record in 1944, and the JPBL was shut down due to World War II. Kogure returned with the Pacific club in 1946, and he recorded a .246/.342/.340 batting line with 5 triples. He missed the entire 1947 season, and he played 64 games with a .178/.240/.225 batting line in 1948. Kogure then hit.272/.356/.457 in 1949, and he joined the Nishitetsu Lions when the JPBL split into two leagues. Kogure crushed 5 homers with a .266/.328/.390 batting line in 1950, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Kogure hit .228/.314/.323 with 264 hits and 13 homers in 7 seasons in NPB.
