Biographical Information[edit]

Hideo Suzuki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Suzuki signed with the Nagoya club in 1936, and he went 1-for-5 in the spring season and 1-for-10 in the fall season. He was hitless in 13 at-bats in the 1937 spring season, and he went 1-for-16 in the fall. Suzuki hit .198/.311/.198 in 38 games in the 1938 spring season, and he had a .227/.338/.353 batting line that fall while leading the Japan Professional Baseball League with 31 strikeouts. He played 47 games with a .209/.256/.264 batting line before he jumped to the Lion club in 1939, and he batted .246/.313/.295 for them in the rest of the season. Suzuki was 1-for-4 in 1940, and he left the team. He joined the Yamato club in 1942, and he recorded a .147/.231/.174 batting line. Suzuki struggled again in 1943 as he hit .159/.276/.249 in 84 games, but he was 4th in homers (2, tied with Akira Noguchi, Makoto Kozuru, Haruyasu Nakajima, Masaru Kageura and Kentaro Ito), 5th in triples (3, tied with Masato Monzen and 10th in steals (10, tied with Hiroshi Hagiwara, Masanobu Yamaguchi, Seizo Furukawa and Fukuyoshi Okada). He returned to Nagoya in 1944, and his batting line was .231/.381/.269 in 23 games. Suzuki played 30 games with a .185/.346/.185 batting line in 1946, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Suzuki hit .181/.286/.235 with 193 hits and 6 homers in 12 seasons in NPB.
