Biographical Information[edit]

Hank Thoms played in the minor leagues and for the USA national baseball team.

Thoms was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 9th round of the 1999 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign. He went to the St. Paul Saints of the Northern League, and he went 5-2 with a 3.55 ERA for the in his first season. Thoms stayed in St. Paul in 2000, and he went 6-7 with a 4.12 ERA that season. He then signed with the Cleveland Indians, and he was 7-2 with a 2.26 ERA for the Kinston Indians in 2001. Thoms also pitched 19 games for the Columbus RedStixx, and his ERA was 2.98. He was 5-2 with a 2.43 ERA in Kinston in 2002, and he pitched one game for the AAA Buffalo Bisons. Tthe Indians' chain after that season, and he was 3-2 with a 1.99 ERA for the Joliet Jackhammers and 3-0 with a 3.02 ERA for the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. The 2003 season was his last season as a professional player. He also pitched for the USA in the 2003 Baseball World Cup; in his one appearance, he allowed one run (a Weifeng Qu homer) in six innings in beating China's Peng Li; Mike Guilfoyle took over and D.J. Johnson saved the 4-1 win.
