Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Rich Tunison played in the minor leagues from 1989 to 1992 and in 1994, peaking at Double-A. He was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the 2nd round of the 1989 amateur draft, one pick ahead of infielder Clay Bellinger, and was signed by scout Herb Raybourn. His best season was 1990 with the Appleton Foxes. That year, he hit .300/.355/.416 with 8 home runs, 86 RBI and 32 steals in 129 games, finishing second in the Midwest League in RBI, behind John Byington's 89. He never played in more than 87 games or hit better than .250 in any other season.

Overall, Tunison hit .251/.314/.350 with 19 home runs, 181 RBI and 63 stolen bases in 389 games.

Prior to playing professionally, he made the 1989 NJCAA Baseball World Series All-Tournament Team.
