Biographical Information[edit]
Reed Peters was drafted by the California Angels in the 12th round of the 1987 amateur draft. He played in the Angels' chain from 1987 to 1991 and the San Francisco Giants' organization in 1992-1993, spending time in AAA in 1990-1994.
Peters was an assistant coach at UNLV before becoming head coach at Colby Community College from 1995-1999. He was the head coach of United States Air Force Academy from 2000 to 2003. He moved back to the juco ranks with Feather River College (2004-2007) and San Joaquin Delta College (2008-2024). Peters returned to the 4-year ranks, moving across town, as head coach of University of the Pacific in 2025. In 2025 Peters would lead the Tigers to nearly double their win total from the year prior. In 2026 Peters led the Tigers to their first ever West Coast Conference Tournament, and only third post season appearence in program history.
Reed Peters died unexpectedly shortly after the 2026 season, after a battle with an illness.
Peters' twin brother, Rex Peters, also played minor league ball and coached in college. Their father Rex Peters played in the Baltimore Orioles' chain from 1962-1965.
