Phillip Dresel played in the Bundesliga-1 and for the German national team.
He was 12-3 with a 2.80 ERA in the 2002 Bundesliga-2, pitching for the Fürth Pirates; he was 3 strikeouts shy of a pitching Triple Crown. The Pirates moved up to the Bundesliga-1 in 2003 and he was 10-6 with a 2.64 ERA. He was 5th in the Bundesliga-1 south in ERA (between Jan Rüssel and Michael Otto), 4th in strikeouts (65, between Thorsten Wöhner and Martin Almstetter), tied Rüssel and Wöhner for the win lead, led in IP (88 2/3, 11 2/3 ahead of Rüssel), was 4th in WHIP (1.14, between Rüssel and Otto) and had the lowest walk rate (.24 BB/IP, .04 ahead of Wöhner). He won the Best Pitcher award. His three appearances for Germany in the 2003 European Championship trailed only Mirko Heid's 5 but he allowed 7 hits, 5 walks and 4 runs (3 earned) in 2 1/3 IP, striking out one. He fell to 5-5, 4.20 for the 2004 Pirates, tying for 5th in wins, tying for 6th in losses, pitching the 7th-most innings (79 1/3, between Rob Mattson and Rüssel) and having the 3rd-best walk rate (.34 BB/IP, behind Mattson and Almstetter).
In 2005, he was 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA. He fell to 1-9, 6.50 the next year, tying Tyson Olson for 8th in K (40) but leading in losses. He was 7th with 72 IP (between Markus Winkler and Sam Jew) and 8th in low walk rate. He had a 1-0, 7.84 record in 2007, allowed 4 runs (one earned) in 4 1/3 IP in 2008, went 1-1 with a 4.71 ERA in 2009 (now with the Haar Disciples) and had a 3.68 ERA for Haar in 2010.
