Biographical Information[edit]
Pedro Valarezo was named the Best Pitcher in the 1987 European Championship, helping the Spanish national team win Bronze. [1] He signed with the Texas Rangers, which might have made him the first Spanish-born and -raised minor leaguer. He pitched six games for the 1988 GCL Rangers, saving one; he went 7 1/3 IP and allowed 8 hits, 4 walks and 6 runs (all earned) while striking out 7. One presumes he was related to Gabriel Valarezo, also born in Pamplona, 3 years later.
