Biographical Information

Pedro Valarezo was named the Best Pitcher in the 1987 European Championship, helping the Spanish national team win Bronze. He signed with the Texas Rangers, which might have made him the first Spanish-born and -raised minor leaguer. He pitched six games for the 1988 GCL Rangers, saving one; he went 7 1/3 IP and allowed 8 hits, 4 walks and 6 runs (all earned) while striking out 7. One presumes he was related to Gabriel Valarezo, also born in Pamplona, 3 years later.
