Biographical Information

Pedro Avila pitched in the majors from 2019 to 2024. He was with the San Diego Padres for the entire period, until he was purchased by the Cleveland Guardians in April of 2024. That last season was also his busiest, as he appeared in 54 games - 4 with San Diego and 50 with Cleveland - going 6-1, 3.81 with 1 save. In contrast, from 2019 to 2022, he pitched in just 4 games. He also appeared in the postseason for the only time, being a late addition to the Guardians' roster during the ALCS against the New York Yankees and pitching 4 scoreless innings in 3 outings.

Following the 2024 season, he signed with the Yakult Swallows of Nippon Pro Baseball's Central League.

He is a cousin of Luinder Avila.
