Paul Mainieri

Paul Mainieri played one season of professional baseball, as the second baseman for the 1979 Niagara Falls Pirates. He batted .253/~.403/.326, stole 12 bases in 15 tries and fielded .940.

Mainieri was named baseball coach of Louisiana State University in 2006 after twelve seasons (1995-2006) as the head coach at the University of Notre Dame, six at the United States Air Force Academy (1989-1994), and six at Biscayne College (1983-1988). Mainieri began his coaching career as an assistant at Christopher Columbus High School (FL) in Miami, FL for three years (1980-1982).

Mainieri is the winningest coach in St. Thomas University (Biscayne College) history, and the 2nd winningest for Air Force. His father Demie Mainieri was the head coach at Miami Dade Community College North.

Mainieri led LSU to the 2009 College World Series title.
