[2] In the 2001 European Championship, he played well for the Czech national team. In his debut, he relieved Pavel Budský in the 6th against Ukraine and struck out two in a scoreless inning, yielding a hit. Jan Homolka succeeded him. He started the 5th/6th place game against Spain and gave up only one hit in 5 2/3 innings, walking five and striking out nine, before Richard Prokop closed it out; he got the win over Juan Tellechea. Only Budský had more strikeouts for the Czechs and only Pacas pitched more innings without giving up an earned run. [3]
