Biographical Information[edit]

Norio Suzuki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Suzuki signed with the Toei Flyers in 1963, and he only got 17 at-bats combined in his first three seasons. He got some chances after Jinten Haku was moved from catcher, and he played 26 games with a .226/.250/.323 batting line in 1966. Suzuki hit .280/.295/.323 in 43 games in 1967, and he recorded a .261/.304/.348 batting line in 68 games in 1968. He then shared the starting catcher spot with Masayuki Tanemo in 1969, and he had a .210/.263/.287 in 89 games. Suzuki slumped to .116/.224/.198 in 1970, and he announced his retirement after hitting .250/.280/.361 in 1971. He coached in the Flyers/Nippon Ham Fighters system from 1972 to 1994, and he was their bench coach from 1992 to 1994. Suzuki also coached the Samsung Lions from 1995 to 1996, and he became the battery coach for the Chiba Lotte Marines from 1997 to 1998.

Overall, Suzuki hit .227/.278/.307 with 149 hits and 11 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
