Biographical Information[edit]
First Baseman Norbert Semanaka was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 7th round of the 2002 NPB draft. Because he didn't live in Japan for five straight years, he was still considered a foreign player. Semanaka was the first player in NPB history to be drafted and still needed to use the foreign player spot. The rule was abolished in 2004, and Semanaka was considered a local player then. However, he didn't reach the top team, and he was released in 2005. He also represented Brazil in the 2003 Baseball World Cup (.258/.378/.419 as their main DH) and 2004 Americas Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
