Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Nick Schnaitmann played in the Colorado Rockies system from 2008 to 2013, peaking at High A. He was originally taken by the club in the 22nd round of the 2008 amateur draft, a few picks ahead of pitcher Anthony DeSclafani. He was signed by scout Gary Wilson. Perhaps his best campaign was his one full season in relief, when he went 5-4 with a 3.92 ERA in 52 appearances for the Modesto Nuts. Previously, as a starter, he'd posted unsavory ERAs of 5.32 in 2010 and 6.64 in 2011. In 2010, he tied Matthew Hopps for the South Atlantic League lead in earned runs allowed with 78. The Rockies released him on July 12, 2013.

Overall, he went 25-33 with a 5.37 ERA in 133 games (51 starts). In 405 1/3 innings, he allowed 466 hits and 167 walks (1.562 WHIP), while striking out 244 batters.
