Biographical Information[edit]
Nestor Corredor played eight seasons in the minors then became a manager.
Corredor signed with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2002 after being scouted by Epy Guerrero. He hit only .203 as a first baseman for the DSL Brewers that year. In 2003, he improved to .218 with the same club. Coming stateside in 2004, he hit .211/.242/.316 while appearing for three Brewers affiliates. He did throw out 17 of 35 attempted base-stealers for the AZL Brewers in his first year at catcher. He also fielded .990, leading Arizona League backstops.
In 2005, Nestor batted .203/.236/.275 in 45 games for the West Virginia Power and .277/.327/.319 in 15 for the Brevard County Manatees. He split 2006 between the same two clubs, hitting .269/.304/.362 in 40 games for West Virginia and .183/.227/.211 in 22 for Brevard County.
With Brevard County in all of 2007, Corredor hit .169/.204/.209 with 26 runs produced in 60 games. Moving to pitching in 2008, Nestor was 1-1 with a 7.52 ERA in 13 outings for Helena.
After a year away from baseball, Corredor returned to the Brewers organization as a minor league manager (see below) for the next ten years. He was scheduled to change jobs in 2020 and serve as a Biloxi Shuckers coach before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Corredor joined the major league Brewers in 2021 as a bullpen catcher, a role he repeated in 2022. Becoming a major league bullpen catcher was a rather unusual step for a long-time minor league manager & coach. Corredor explained it thus to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2023 - "It's the show. It's the big leagues. You need to find a way to get to the big leagues the best way possible and, at that time, that was the best way. I didn't take it for granted." In 2023 Corredor was promoted to major league coach and promoted again in 2024 to Major League Field Coordinator. He remained the team's Field Coordinator in 2025.
Corredor returned to Venezuela during the 2023/2024 Venezuelan League season to manage the Águilas del Zulia. This was his first managing endeaver in the winter leagues.
