Biographical Information[edit]

Naritaka Tanaka played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Tanaka set the Koshien record by getting 6 hits in a game in 1937. He signed with the Hankyu club in 1939, and he hit .267/.319/.305 in 45 games in his first season. He then had a .259/.330/.318 batting line in 1940, and he hit .202/.272/.228 in 46 games in 1941. Tanaka missed the next four seasons after he enlisted into the military, and he recorded a .255/.286/.298 batting line in 1946. He played 110 games with a .241/.294/.311 batting line in 1947, and he went to the Kyuei Flyers. However, he struggled in 1948 as his batting line fell to .181/.245/.202, and he was released. Tanaka signed with the Taiyo Whales and he hit .269/.311/.368 with 20 doubles in 1949, and he joined the Hiroshima Carp when they were founded in 1950. Tanaka played 89 games with a .269/.313/.337 batting line, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Tanaka hit .246/.298/.310 with 410 hits and 12 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
