Biographical Information[edit]
Naoya Okamoto was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 4th round of the 2001 NPB draft, and he only pitched 10 games combined for the big club before the BayStars released him in 2009. He then went 1-2 with a 3.46 ERA for the Guerreros de Oaxaca in 2010, and he also pitched 6 games with a 3.86 ERA for the Piratas de Campeche. The New York Yankees signed him, and Okamoto recorded a 3.76 ERA in 21 relief outings with 2 saves for the AA Trenton Thunder in 2011. He signed with the Yakult Swallows in July 2011, and he allowed 3 runs in one inning then he announced his retirement.
