Biographical Information[edit]
Mitchell Holland played baseball and football at Mission Viejo High School before enrolling at nearby Saddleback College.
For the Gauchos, Holland split time at first base his freshman year hitting .259 before playing in every game his sophomore year at first base while hitting .321 in 140 at bats while only striking out 12 times. In 2014 he was also the Saddleback College Male Athlete of the Year.
He then transferred to the University of California, Irvine. For his junior year in 2015 he hit .325 and was an All-Big West Second Team selection. He spent the following summer playing for the Wenatchee AppleSox in the West Coast League. In 2016 he appeared in 55 games for the Anteaters, hitting .300 to end his playing career.
In 2017 Holland took the graduate assistant role at UCI. The following summer, he coached the Rochester Ridgemen in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. He was also on the coaching staff at Junipero Serra High School in 2017-2018 while teaching economics. In 2019, Holland coached at Saddleback College, working with the infielders and hitters. He thened return to UCI in 2020 as a volunteer assistant coach working primarily with the catchers and helping with hitters. In 2021 he was on staff when UCI won the Big West Conference. In 2023 Holland accepted a position at Loyola Marymount University as an assistant coach when they won the West Coast Conference regular season title. Following his stint at LMU, Holland accepted an assistant coach position at the University of San Diego. At USD, Holland coached third base, worked with the infielders, and assisted with hitters.
Holland spent three years with the Toreros before accepting the head coaching job at Vanguard University following the 2026 season.
