Biographical Information[edit]
Minoru Tanaka signed with the Nagoya club in 1937, and he was 9-4 with a 4.38 ERA in the spring season. He ranked 7th in wins (tied with Yukio Nishimura), 2nd in appearances (tied with Kuranosuke Furuya) and 9th in losses in the Japanese Professional Baseball League. Tanaka then went 2-1 with a 3.96 ERA in the fall season and he had a 0-for-21 record as an infielder in 1938 spring season. Tanaka returned to the mound in the fall season, and he was 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA. He only played 3 games in 1939, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Tanaka was 11-10 with a 3.94 ERA, struck out 52 and pitched 239 2/3 innings in 4 seasons in NPB.
