Biographical Information[edit]
Minoru Kakurai played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Kakurai signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1953, and he went 3-for-11 in 1954. He hit .171/.250/.276 in 1955, and he was 5-for-11 with 3 runs scored in the 1955 Nippon Series to help the Giants beat the Nankai Hawks in 7 games. Kakurai then played 110 games with a .220/.281/.398 batting line as Yomiuri's starting left fielder in 1956, but he collided with Andy Miyamoto while practicing in 1957 so he only played 13 games. He lost his spot when Kazuhiko Sakazaki shined in 1958, and he was 10-for-67 that season. Kakurai then recorded a .174/.269/.226 batting line in 81 games in 1959, and the Giants released him and he joined the Kintetsu Buffaloes. Kakurai waas 10-for-71 in 1960, and he announced his retirement after hitting .170/.219/.308 in 1961.
Overall, Kakurai hit .183/.247/.300 with 140 hits and 17 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
