Biographical Information[edit]
Michio Aoyama played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Aoyama was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 3rd round of the 1983 NPB draft, and he hit .116/.224/.116 in 33 games for the San Jose Bees in 1984. He also had a 2-for-9 record for the top team that season, and he went 2-for-12 in 1985. Aoyama only got 10 at-bats combined in the next four seasons, and the Lions traded him with Yukiichi Komazaki and Kosaku Akimoto to the Taiyo Whales for Yasuhiko Kawano and Koichi Muraoka. Aoyama hit .143/.194/.317 in 62 games in 1990, and he stayed in the minors in 1991. He had a .265/.342/.412 batting line in 38 games in 1992, and he announced his retirement. Aoyama was the fielding coach of the Yokohama BayStars from 1996 to 2003 and from 2007 to 2008, and he also coached their minors team from 1993 to 1995 and from 2004 to 2006. He then became the bench coach of the Chiba Lotte Marines from 2010 to 2011, and he managed their minors team from 2012 to 2015. He returned to the BayStars as their bench coach from 2017 to 2023.
