Biographical Information[edit]

Meleti Melehes played in the Olympics.

Melehes was 6-2 with three saves and a 6.63 ERA for the 1999 London Werewolves. With the same club the next year, he had a 4-7, 6.14 record. He later played for the Guelph Royals in the Intercounty Baseball League. He joined the Greek national team for the 2003 European Championship and took the first loss in team history, allowing one unearned run in 6 2/3 innings in a 1-0 loss to Spain.

In the 2004 Olympics, Melehes started against Team Canada (representing his homeland) and allowed just two runs in 6 1/3 innings but lost to Paul Spoljaric, who tossed a shutout (with the help of some relievers). He allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings in a creditable start against the Japanese national team, losing to Naoyuki Shimizu. His 3.00 ERA led all Greek team pitchers with 3+ innings in the Athens Games.
