Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Matt Deggs played minor league baseball in the independent leagues in 1994-1996 before embarking on a coaching career.
Deggs was an assistant coach at Northwestern State University in 1996-1997. He was then head coach at Texarkana College from 1998-2002. Deggs was an assistant coach at University of Arkansas in 2003-2005, Texas A&M University in 2006-2011, and University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2012-2014. He was head coach at Sam Houston State University in 2015-2019, taking the school to the 2017 CWS Super Regionals. Deggs returned to Louisiana-Lafayette as head coach in 2020.
