Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Masatoshi Okada played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Okada was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 6th round of the 2013 NPB draft, and he went 6-for-32 in 2014. He was 12-for-50 in 2015, and he had a 12-for-66 record in 2016. Okada shared the starting catcher spot with Ginjiro Sumitani in 2017, and he played 68 games with a .229/.306/.285 batting line. He hit .272/.327/.402 in 2018, but he suffered from left knee injury in 2019 so he only played 36 games with a .262/.375/.393 batting line. Okada then went 6-for-56 in 2020, and he struggled again in 2021 as his batting line was .119/.229/.214. He only played two more games before he announced his retirement in 2024.
Overall, Okada hit .219/.294/.290 with 119 hits and 6 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
