Biographical Information[edit]
Masaru Watanabe played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.
Watanabe won two Best Nine awards and a MVP in his college career. He was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 6th round of the development phase in the 2015 NPB draft, and he stayed in the minors in his first three seasons. Watanabe was 4-for-27 in 2019, and he went 3-for-15 in 2020. He played a career-high 48 games with a .210/.266/.277 batting line in 2021, but he only got 9 at-bats in 2022 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Watanabe hit .200/.247/.259 with 34 hits in 4 seasons in NPB.
